What Oort is

Oort is a campus lounge and study planner at www.oort.site. This policy covers that website and any home-screen or store listing that opens the same service.

What we collect

  • Account email and password (password is stored by Supabase Auth, not in planner tables).
  • Profile details you choose to add: name, username, photo URL, campus, program, and bio.
  • Planner data you enter: courses, assessments, availability, study sessions, and flashcards.
  • Lounge activity: messages, study groups, friend requests, and reports you send.
  • Billing status if you start Pro. Card numbers stay with PayPal. We store subscription ids and plan status only.
  • AI questions you send to the tutor or quiz generator. Those requests go to OpenAI to produce a reply. We do not sell that text.
  • Deadline-reminder emails if that setting is on. Those are sent through Resend to your login email.
  • Anonymous page views through Vercel Web Analytics. That tool does not use advertising cookies.

What we do not collect

  • Payment card numbers, CVC, or bank passwords.
  • Your precise location, contacts, camera, or microphone.
  • Student ID numbers or registrar records. Joining a course community is not official enrollment.

Who can see your data

Other students never see your login email. Your public profile follows the visibility you set in Settings. Course lounge messages are visible to people in that room. Oort staff can review reports you file.

Processors that help run the service: Supabase (auth and database), Vercel (hosting and optional analytics), OpenAI (tutor and quizzes, only when you use those tools), PayPal (Pro checkout), and Resend (deadline emails).

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you delete it or a campus administrator removes it. You can delete lounge courses you created or joined. Backups may last a short time after deletion.

Children

Oort is for university and college students. It is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, turn off deadline emails, or close your account. To ask for a copy of your data or deletion, write from the email on the account to hello@oort.site.
